CQC Registration Requirements

Registering with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) is a legal requirement for all care providers. The CQC is the independent regulator of health and social care in England, ensuring that all services meet essential standards of quality and safety. Fit and Proper Persons

First and foremost, care providers must appoint a Registered Manager to oversee daily operations. Both the manager and provider need to be considered “fit and proper persons.” This means they should have the relevant qualifications, experience, and a clean criminal record, as evidenced by a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Providers must submit a Statement of Purpose, outlining their aims, the types of services they’ll offer, and where they will operate. Having the right policies and procedures in place is crucial. These include safeguarding, infection control, health and safety, and staff training protocols.
